The Wynn Las Vegas Resort & Country Club

The 2.7 billion Wynn Las Vegas Resort & Country Club, European-designed hotel and spa offers luxury with grand taste. From the luxury shopping, including such names as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Oscar de la Renta to the Ferrari/Maserati dealership on property, this more-than-full-service resort offers the finest things that Las Vegas and Wynn are famous for.

The Tom Fazio and Steve Wynn-designed 18-hole championship golf course sports a 35-foot waterfall on the 18th hole. What a way to end a round of golf!

There are multiple pools at the Wynn Resort, including the Cabana Bar & Casino with its own poolside blackjack tables. There is also a topless pool, for those who apply the term “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”.

There are 2359 rooms and 357 suites with 9-foot ceilings, with floor to ceiling windows, which have automatic drapery controls next to the bed to open and close the shades. Imagine not even having to get up to open or close the drapes. There are fine European bed linens, flat screen televisions, high-speed Internet access and the most high-tech phones I have ever seen in a hotel room. Square footage of the rooms runs from 640-1,940 square feet. There are dining rooms in most rooms, and some of the suites even come with their own private massage room! Each room has a Pillowtop signature Wynn bed as Steve Wynn took the best mattress he could find and then improved on it! If you are in the Suites, you will have your own entrance to the hotel and access to areas that non suite holders are not entitled to use. . Once you cross over to the Suites area of the resort, the scenery changes with even richer décor and more amenities. The outside walls of the suites are all glass up to 26 feet tall! The view and feeling are stunning! There are even suites with private outdoor soaking pools on the terrace, overlooking the golf course. Imagine soaking in one of these pools, overlooking the golf course that you spent your day on! And, unlike other hotels, you can count on a fresh bed cover as with every change of guests they clean the bed covers. Details, details, details are what it’s all about at The Wynn Resort.

La Reve, (French for The Dream (which was the original name for the resort), and 2004 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Avenue Q are both playing in the Wynn Las Vegas theaters. Avenue Q is very funny. but don’t let the cartoon characters fool you. This is an adult show all of the way. If you’re into nightclub action there is Lure, the ultra-lounge, with European bottle service, open from 11 PM to 4 AM.

If you plan on holding a meeting, there is 200,000 square feet of meeting space, 2 ballrooms, and 2 boardrooms with one-of-a-kind technology, with concave tables so it is possible to see everyone who is sitting at the table. Each of their meeting rooms offer an indoor/outdoor environment providing terraces with expansive views of the pools, gardens or golf course. If you are holding a special event, they have created cocktail booths that can either be pushed up against a wall or put together to create a circular seating arrangement.

The 110,000 square foot casino includes private gaming salons and fine art displaying Steve and Elaine Wynn’s personal collection.

Dining at the Wynn Resort is beyond comprehension. It is very difficult to make our mouths drop, but our dining experience at the Bartolotta Restaurant did just that. Chef Paul Bartolotta starts with unique, fresh seafood which is flown in from Europe every day. Jeff Gloeb, Executive Director of Hotel Sales and Marketing states, “The fish that is served there is not found anywhere else in the United States”. The fish was presented fresh and whole on a silver platter. The server explained each fish with exquisite detail. From the authentic pastas the classic Italian specials, this is a must-experience restaurant. We opted for the chef’s tasting menu and he outdid himself on each course that was served. This fine dining atmosphere is a tiered- level restaurant, so when making reservations ask for a table near the water, which is in the middle of the restaurant. Besides making your spa reservations before you arrive, I highly suggest making dinner reservations when you make your resort stay reservations. All in all, there are 22 food and beverage options from Asian fusion, French Riviera, classic American steakhouse, modern Japanese and casual dining. Wynn claims they have more great chefs under one roof than anywhere else.

THE SPA AT WYNN LAS VEGAS
As you approach the spa, to the right is the state-of-the-art gym. As I was touring the work-out facility, I noticed Paula Abdul taking a private session with one of the Wynn personal trainers. She and I spoke briefly later on in the locker room in the spa about how wonderful the gym and spa facilities were.

The Spa at Wynn Las Vegas has separate women’s and men’s facilities with showers, steam room, sauna and whirlpools. There are full-length Lockers with spa robes and slippers that are provided, as well as hair and body care amenities. The locker rooms are nooks that are spread out at the facility, offering smaller, more private areas to change and ready yourself after your treatments. There are also two large private changing rooms.

There is a Deluge Shower, which has an over-sized shower head in a shower-type stall where I sat in a bath of water and then pulled the cord so that water rushed out onto various parts of my body. It continued until I released the cord. It felt great on my tight shoulders and my neck and head area. There are also hot and cold plunges in this circular relaxation area, as well as chairs to sit and take in the water sounds.

There is a large flat-screen TV in the relaxation area with large over-stuffed couches to lie or sit on.

Signature Treatment
At the Wynn Las Vegas, you can start your stay off right at the spa with their signature treatment called the Good Luck Ritual which is based on the Five Elements of Feng Shui - to achieve health, wealth, prosperity, happiness and harmony. Clody, my therapist, led me down the wide hallway of 45 treatment rooms and once we arrived in the room, she left me to slide into the high-thread count sheets. Upon her return in the room, she described what she would be doing from start to end, so that I would have a better idea of what to expect.

The treatment began with Tibetan chimes, to balance the chakras and then she asked me to take three big breaths while she placed her oil-scented hands under my nose. I sank into the heated bed, waiting what I knew would be bliss. Clody then oiled my body and massaged my back side first. Then, onto a face and jaw massage, finding places of stress, including my jaw insertion, a place that most massage therapists miss. She then proceeded to give me a hand and lower arm scrub, followed by a wet heated towel to cleanse, then finished with a lemon verbena lotion. This process was repeated on my feet. She then finished this segment by gently squeezing all of the body parts she had just scrubbed and cleaned.

This treatment was combined with a 50 -minute custom massage with heated Thai herbs, a luxurious lemon verbena and peppermint foot treatment, a ultra -moisturizing hand therapy, and a relaxing, wild lime botanical scalp treatment. This was the best of all worlds as it is a combination of many treatments into one. I left the treatment feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. It was a pure treat for all of the senses! 80 minutes of pure bliss!

The Spa offers many treatments for both Men and Women including the spa novice to the experienced spa user with an adventurous streak.
