As an award-winning free-lance journalist, Barbara Beckley travels the world writing about destinations from Kathmandu and Tahiti to Cabo San Lucas and Palm Springs. In addition to writing for amazingspas.com, Barbara is a frequent contributor to the Los Angeles Times Special Sections, Alaska Airlines in-flight magazine and Travelscope as well as national business and meetings publications. Her byline has also appeared in Westways, Spa and Travel Agent magazines.

Barbara's passion for travel began with a Caribbean cruise vacation she took when she was fresh out of journalism school and working as a feature writer for a Los Angeles daily newspaper. After chronicling her adventures for the paper's travel section, she took off and began exploring the world as a free-lance writer for Copley News Service. Barbara lived in London for a year, and four years in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, before she ran away to sea and joined Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, where she met amazingspas.com creator Sandi Jacobs, who was also working onboard the RCCL ships. The two have been friends ever since.

With almost 30 years of travel expertise, Barbara is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and lectures regularly on travel writing at UCLA.
